Concert Spotlight: BET Music Matters

10 Apr

So the BET Music Matters Tour made a stop in my hometown of Richmond, Va at the “National” this past Friday and the artist on the bill didn’t disappoint. The show opened with new talent Anthony David, whom I had never heard of until the day of the show. He really set the mood, a great appetizer of things to come.He set things in motion for Sophomore songstress Melanie Fiona.  Now when I tell you this girl goes iiiiiiiin!

I don’t care how many times you see a artist on tv or listen to their music it’s nothing more inviting to ones spirit than to see a musician perform live. Melanie gave a great show and her vocals were incredible. I can’t wait to pick up the new album.

Then it was on to the main course. Marsha! Marsha! Marsha! Ms. Ambrosius. She went from the mic to the keyboards and back to mic. She’s a true talent. Every since the days of Floetry I’ve been captivated by her voice. After hearing about her signing with Dr.Dre’s label “Aftermathe” I thought we were finally gonna hear what she was all about. Well despite label drama and group breakups Marsha finally went on to release her debut”Late Nights, Early Mornings”. She started things off with the title track and went into some of my favs including “No Hands”, “Butterflies” and a melody of Mary J. Blige hits. After the show was over she came back out and performed “With You” produced by the Songstress herself.

I was so blessed to have been in her presence. Real Music at it’s best….

Thanks to Rob for the pic.
