MOVIE REVIEW: RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

7 Aug

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes (starring James Franco, John Lithgow, and Frida Pinto) lived up to it’s name because it delivered non-stop action from beginning to end. Very typical plot but lots of interaction between man and beast. Some people may take away certain stereotypes and racial undertones but for the most part the action will supersede most of that. I’ve always been a fan of the ‘Ape’ series from way back in the day and this new one will have me wanting to revisit the old ones.

I won’t give away too much but just know Caesar and his followers will rise with just a small twist at the very end that will lead many to ponder a continuation to the story. I thought ‘Rise’ would be a sequel to the 2001 ‘Planet Of The Apes’ starring Mark Walberg but this one clearly surpasses.

Not enough reason to go see it? How about it took home $54 million since opening on Friday. I’d say it fared pretty well.

My grade: 4 out of 5: Lots of action that will keep you entertained from start to finish.

Good Review! This is that rare summer movie that has brains and emotion in addition to the spectacle. It is also such a great film that it makes us forget about the 2001 piece of junk that Tim Burton tried to do but actually failed. Check out my review when you can!
