I really don’t watch these so I won’t be posting a plethora of photos from the event. I will however showcase the highlights and major points of the award show pending they move me to even post. First I want to say congratulations to actress Octavia Spencer for winning Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal as a maid in the movie ‘The Help’. I’ve never seen the film but it’s definitely on my list of flicks to view.

Spencer quoted Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in her acceptance: “All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance.”

Although the “Help” characters are fictional “they represent scores of real people,” she said.

“The narrative itself is part of our fabric,” Spencer said backstage. “It’s important to keep the younger generation abreast of how far we’ve come, because this is really foreign to them.”

From my understanding The Globes are the introduction to award show season and pave the way for the big night at the Academy Awards.

Also congrats to actor Idris Elba:

Idris Elba of “Luther” won the Golden Globe award for actor in a series, miniseries or motion picture made for television. Elba beat out Hugh Bonneville of “Downton Abbey,” William Hurt of “Too Big to Fail,” Bill Nighy of “Page Eight” and Dominic West of “The Hour” for the award.

Elba plays antihero detective John Luther in the series on BBC America. His “Luther” character is able to identify a killer at 10 paces but has suffered a mental breakdown, which resulted from the flawed decision of chasing down a pedophile. Elba (Source)
