VSU Students To Hold Rally This Morning For Proper Justice In The Killing Of Trayvon Martin

The effects and aftermath of the events involving Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman and a shady Florida police department have sparked much outrage and heartache around the country. Now concerned citizens of every nationality are taking a stand and rallying for young Trayvon Martin including right here in Va. The campus of Virginia State University plans to step up and let their voices be heard in a rally, to be held this morning at 9am. Check below for the schools view on the senseless killing of a young innocent teen.

According to WWBT (News 12) VSU students explained to the news station that police in Florida failed to do their job in the controversial shooting death of a 17-year-old boy. A neighborhood watch captain is accused of shooting and killing Trayvon Martin.

People across the nation and here at home are demanding he be charged with a crime. VSU students plan to hold a rally for justice.

Martin’s death is the talk on the VSU campus. Thursday morning, students hope to draw more than 100 people to the fountain to express how they feel and right now they’re outraged.

A heated discussion in a sociology class sparks action.

“Starting passing the word around, Facebooking it, tweeting it or what-not,” said VSU senior, YI Yahkim Yisrayl.

By foot too.

“We’re going to put some up in the business,” he added.

To tell as many people about a rally at VSU for Martin.
Yisrayl said people should stand up for an injustice.

“It’s a community effort, it could happen to any one of us,” said Yisrayl.

The hope is by passing out flyers on campus and in the neighboring communities it will draw more people to the rally Thursday morning. It’ll be held at 9 a.m. at the Fountain on the VSU campus near Harris Hall.

“We got to speak up for Trayvon,” said Yisrayl.
